Bandipora, May 30: Peaceful protest were held across the Bandipora district on Tuesday  against the killing of a civilian in Anantnag on Monday evening.  The members of civil society including students, PRI members, councilors, transporters  and traders assembled at different locations in Bandipora, Gurez and Sumbal Sub divisions denouncing the civilian killing.  Terrorists fired upon a civilian namely Deepu, a resident of Udhampur district , who was working at an amusement park near Janglaat Mandi in Anantnag. He was the lone bread earner of the family.   The demonstrations aimed to draw attention to the ongoing violence against minority groups in Kashmir and demand justice for the victims. The protesters termed the killing of as a collective loss to society. They told the reporters that killing any innocent civilian is a highly condemnable act and no religion on earth teaches like this. “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and it’s our collective loss. Innocent killings have no space in our society,”  they said, adding “We as a whole civil society oppose the killing of innocent civilians”.
