Ramzan, also known as Ramadan, is a holy month for Muslims worldwide, during which people observe fasting, prayer, and charity. In Kashmir, Ramzan is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. People wake up early in the morning to have *Sehri*. After fasting throughout the day, at sunset, they break their fast with *Iftar* followed by offering prayers. Ramzan brings the community together and strengthens their faith. Promoting communal harmony and fostering goodwill among the locals, Indian Army organised numerous events throughout the holy month. Such events provide an opportunity for soldiers to interact with the local people and help bridge the gap between them. Starting from Markazi Jamia Masjid, Kupwara on 24 March 2023, where senior officers of the Army, who eventually observed fasting with people for the entire holy month, were present for Iftar and offered prayers with more than 150 locals. Iftar Dinner was organised by Army in several other locations to include Jamia Masjids of Glassdaji, Manzhar & Zarahama, Boys Orphanage in Sulkoot, GB Hostel in Goose, Anawarul Madni Madrassa in Mirpora, and even in numerous Army Company Operating Bases of Kupwara Town, Tregham, Jugtial, Glassdaji, Muhri and Kalaroos. All the events saw overwhelming participation of locals thus validating the faith and trust between Awam and Jawan. Iftar dinner at 18 such locations was organised witnessing huge strength of more than 2000 locals. The Iftar Dinner was also organised in Zangli Garrison and Hajipir Brigade. On this pious occasion, all prominent personalities from all cross sections of Kupwara were warmly hosted by General Officer Commanding, 28 Infantry Division and Commander, 68 Mountain Brigade respectively. This is a testimony that Indian Army is working towards the noble cause of strengthening Awam-Jawan connect and spreading goodwill among each other.
