8th March is celebrated and observed as the International Women’s Day worldwide.
It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, political achievements of women and their contributions in personal and public life. So, as part of this worldwide celebration, an event was organised by Kakrosa COB to celebrate their contributions and achievements in collaboration with Widow, Orphan & Handicapped People Trust of J&K at Light House School, Vilgam

In the event, women from various sections of society of Ramhal & Taratpora Block
commemorate their battle for peace, justice, equality, and progress.To make the event more effective, various prominent speakers like Shanaz Nazir Marazi (District Programme Coordinater, DTC Kupwara), DSP Rohan Farooq (SHO Vilgam), Saira Banu (ICDS Representative), Misra Begum (ASHA Representative) etc shared their views on Women’s Day.

Also, a skit showing the achievements of women was presented by school children of Light House School, Vilgam. Apart from this, girls from Kupwara Martial Art Academy showed their expertise on self defence.

A total of 246 women and children witnessed the event and celebrated this day with joy and happiness.
