MVD Jammu launches major Enforcement drive Recovers Rs 4.22 lakh fine for violation of traffic rules

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 25: A team of Motor Vehicles Department, headed by RTO, Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, on Saturday laid special naka at different locations of Jammu-Pathankot and Jammu Srinagar National Highway to check the visible offences under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.  The enforcement drive was carried out at different locations on National Highway from 02.00 am. More than 300 vehicles were checked and 84 vehicles were compounded/Challaned  with Rs 4.22 lakh fine for various violations such as diversion of route permit, fare overcharging, carrying excess passengers, plying without fitness, without Permit, without Speed Limiting Device and protruding of rods. The main focus on today’s drive is on overcharging from passengers, Violation of Route on National highways and overloading.    The enforcement team consisted of Mohammad Saleem ARTO (HQ), Jammu, Tara Mani Sharma, ARTO(Flying Squad), Motor vehicles Inspectors Rajeev Kundal, Anupam Gandotra,  Ranjeev Bhasin and other staff.
