Karnah Kupwara: National Productivity Day is observed in India every year on 12 February. The purpose of observing this day is to draw everybody’s focus on increasing quality, efficiency and competitiveness levels in various sectors of the country’s economy and help India emerge as a global leader. In addition to this, the day also promotes the idea of productivity as an “evolving concept”, which not only focuses on increasing production but also takes into account issues related to the environment, quality, human resource development and so on.

This year the National Productivity Day was celebrated at Walnut Factory Parada on the Line of Control under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade on 12 Feb 2023. The theme of this year’s National Productivity Day was *“A Chance to Set Goals”*. A lecture to encourage youths in implementing productivity tools & techniques to increase productivity was taken by Mr Ghulam Nabi representative of Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Tangdhar. He informed the gathering about the various procedures & benefits of increasing the agricultural productivity through the various factories. He also explained the likely actions to be taken to increase the quality of the produce. Post lecture, a question – answer session was also held in which the curious youth enquired about the various tools & techniques.

The complete gathering was taken around the Walnut Factory wherein they were informed about the machines, its working culture and the procedure being followed for packing & distribution of walnut kernels. The gathering included 72 locals from Amrohi, Parada, Panjtata, Taad, Padna, Channipora, Pingla and Haridal villages. The event culminated with light refreshment. Mr Ghulam Nabi was felicitated for taking an informative lecture. Such events do increase the informative quotient of the locals which would subsequently assist in further development of the Karnah Valley.
