ADC unfurls National Flag at DPL Kupwara, Sub Registrar at Handwara, Tehsildars at Tangdar, Sogam KUPWARA, JANUARY 24: Full dress rehearsal for Republic Day celebration 2023 was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at march-past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, Home Guards, FPF and police contingents. Besides, in its first experience, Jankis were also presented during the parade which showcased achievements of different line departments.

Addressing the function, the ADC highlighted the historical background and importance of the Republic Day and the Indian Constitution.         The ADC also highlighted various major developments which have been made during the current financial year in the district.         He said the approved District CAPEX budget of the current financial year 2022-23 was 1598.53 crore which is double that of previous year.  Regarding road connectivity, he said 273.89 km of road length have been macadamized in the district during the current year.     The ADC said that Baramulla-Kupwara-Chowkibal road is also being constructed at a cost of Rs.2370.46 crore adding that the approaching road to Bangus is also coming up at Rs.39 crore. He said Rs.105.71 crore is being expended under Area Development Fund to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions of the district.       Highlighting the developments in Health sector, the ADC said that Infant Mortality Rate has drastically come down to 3.39 which was 7.76 in the year 2015. He said around 400 free surgeries have been done in Mega Health Camp in the district during the current year which was organized by the District Administration Kupwara in collaboration with Rotary International.  He said that Government Medical College Handwara is also being established at a cost of Rs.255 crore which will give a major boost in terms of health facilities in Kupwara district.

Regarding Aspirational District Programme, the ADC said that additional grant of Rs.3 crore was released by NITI AYOG for Kupwara district on achieving Delta Rank and showing better progress under various ADP parameters.

He also mentioned the initiatives of the District Administration Kupwara including Zimadari Project and Free Civil Service Coaching programme.       Regarding tourism development, the ADC said that Bangus Mela was held during the current year which witnessed participation of more than 10000 tourists. He said Kupwara Winter Carnival is also being organized in coming days which is first of its kind to boost the winter tourism in the district.

A variety of cultural programmes were presented by the school children during the function.        On the occasion, CEO Kupwara, ACD, Civil and police officers were present.        AT HANDWARA, full dress rehearsal was held at District Police Lines Handwara where Sub Registrar Handwara, Arshid Ahmad Khan unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade & took salute at march past presented by contingents from JKP, JKAP ,BSF, CRPF, IRP and Police band. Jankis were also presented on the occasion.   Cultural programmes were also presented by the school children.           Officers from civil administration, police department and other concerned were present on the occasion.     Full dress rehearsal was held in Karnah Sub-Division where Tehsildar Karnah, Syed Eyad Qadri unfurled the National Flag and took salute at march past. Meanwhile, school children also presented colourful programmes.   Full dress rehearsal was also held at Sogam in Lolab sub division in which Tehsildar Sogam unfurled the National Flag and took salute at March Past.
