In a statement to media Thakur asked people to check the media reports and verify that some leading newspapers have reported a decade back that prime land has been given to influential people on peanuts under infamous Roshni Act in J&K.

“Not only cultivable land, forest and commercial property was given to these people in return of few pennies,” Thakur said, adding that same people have started a campaign against the government.

Thakur also appealed the honorable Lt governor of J&K to initiate the process of land retrieval from these posh localities in Srinagar and Jammu on priority basis, so that general public is benefitted.

Thakur further said that check the investigative reporting done by Daily Excelsior a decade back and see who have been given the land. “You read those reports and see how prime land in Lal Chowk, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar and adjoining areas were provided to influential families on meagre amount,” he said.

Senior BJP leader also said that the same land once retrieved from these people can be used for developmental projects- like, Colleges, hospitals, hostels, different training centers, job generation units, sports fields and other public welfare projects.
