UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 12: A Day long awareness camp on menstrual hygiene was today organised by the Rural Development Department in the Higher Secondary School Tikri under the Chairmanship of Block Development Officer, Disha Gupta.
On the occasion, Chairperson BDC Nisha Sharma, DDC member, Ashu Sharma & PRI members inaugurated the pink toilet having sanitary napkin vending machine and sanitary napkin disposal machine (incinerator) in the presence of Deputy Director Rural Sanitation & Hygiene Sana Khan was the chief guest along with ACP Nighat Alam, Field Sanitation officer Sania Haq Khan, BDO Rural Sanitation Preeti Sharma.
While addressing the gathering, the chief guest informed that such a facility-pink toilets, sanitary napkin vending machines & disposal machines shall be provided by Dept of Rural Development (Rural Sanitation) under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
During the camp, BDC & DDC also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the idea of Pink toilets. They informed that the Pink toilet is one of the rare facilities in India provided under SBM. They also stress upon the hygiene and sanitation and other related activities pertaining to womens. On this occasion, Mahila Sabha and passing of Resolution in which “Pink Sakhis” – ladies spreading awareness on menstrual hygiene volunteered.
