DC Samba reviews implementation of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rules

SAMBA, DECEMBER 31: A meeting to review the working of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and its membership was held here today under Chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Samba   Anuradha Gupta, in her office chamber.  It is pertinent that SPCA is constituted vide GO No. 1178-GAD of 2012 with mandate of enforcing provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Rules and take action against offenders. It also strives to ensure 5 freedoms enshrined under Animal welfare.  During the meeting, an action plan for awareness regarding Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and its working, increasing Membership drive for Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals among other points were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Member Secretary SPCA, Dr Rahul Dev, CAHO Samba, Additional District Magistrate Samba, Members SPCA: Dy. SP HeadQuarters Samba (Representative of SSP Samba), Divisional Forest Officer Samba, Representative of Army, Wildlife Warden Kathua, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Samba, District Panchayat Officer Samba.  In addition to this, Tej Ram Dogra, Chinkle Thappa, Ms. Simran Mehta, Darshan Singh, Bhagwan Dass, Ravi Kumar and Vishal Singh also participated in the meeting being Non-official members of SPCA.  A detailed presentation on the SPCA bye-laws, working and necessity was given by Dr Rahul Dev and Dr Neena Pathak.

The Prevention of Cruelty against animals (Care and Maintenance of case property animals) rules 2017 were also discussed and it was decided that these rules shall be implemented in letter and spirit as per Animal welfare Board of India guidelines. It was also decided to rope in more Honorary members from reputed NGOs, Bar Council and renowned citizens who also happen to be animal lovers and caretakers.

Chairman SPCA, Anuradha Gupta, also impressed upon roping in the local industry for their CSR initiative so that collaborative action can be taken for awareness regarding prevention of cruelty in animals and providing relief to affected animals.
