In order to review preparations for Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls-2023 commencing from December 21, 2022, with January 1, 2023 as the qualifying date, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also District Panchayat Election Officer(DPEO) here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

 

The meeting discussed threadbare various aspects with regard to successful conduct of Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll in Harwan, Khonmoh, Srinagar and Qamarwari Panchayat Blocks of the District.

 

At the outset, the DC/DPEO stressed the concerned to work in coordination to ensure final publication of seamless voters list for the upcoming panchayat elections in all 4 Blocks of the District.

 

The DC/DPEO directed the concerned to conduct revision strictly in accordance with the ECI guidelines as per schedule and complete the process within the given timeline. He exhorted upon the concerned Officers to take extra care while making the addition of new voters, left out voters, deletion of non existing voters and corrections in already registered voters to avoid errors, besides completion of the process before the due date.

 

On the occasion, the DC/DPEO informed that the Publication of Draft Panchayat Electoral Rolls of all 4 Panchayat Blocks of Srinagar is 21-12-2022, while period of filing claims and objections for Additions, Deletions, Corrections and Transpositions is 21-12-2022 to 18-01-2023.

 

The DEO also informed that 6 Special Camps for Electoral Registration will be organised at all the Polling Booths of all 4 Panchayat Blocks of Srinagar on December 31, 2022, January 01, 2023, January 07, January 08, January 14, and January 15, 2023 and concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) shall remain available at respective booths with requisite Forms and Draft Electoral Rolls for the guidance of the electors.

 

Similarly, date for Disposal of claims and Objections is till January 30,2023. While Publication of Final Panchayat Electoral will be made on February 02, 2023.

 

He also instructed all the EROs/AEROs to supervise the said special camps on the dates notified by the State Election Commission and ensure 100% registration of all eligible and left out voters.

 

The DC/DPEO emphasized on conducting extensive SVEEP awareness programmes in all rural/Panchayat halqas of the District to maximise registration of all eligible electorates. EROs/AEROs/PBOs and BDOs were asked to activate all their resources for successful conduct of all SVEEP programmes across all CD Blocks of the District Srinagar.

 

On the occasion, the DC/DPEO stressed on timely addition of eligible voters and urged eligible voters to contact designated officials at village level to get registered in the electoral roll.

 

The DPEO also urged the Government functionaries and other stakeholders to actively participate in the Panchayat Electoral Roll revision exercise to ensure enrolment of all left out eligible voters in the Electoral Roll.

 

Earlier, the DC/DPEO was given brief overview of Panchayat structure in District Srinagar and it was given out that all 4 CD Blocks of Srinagar including Harwan, Khonmoh, Srinagar and Qamarwari comprising 21 Panchayat halqas have 183 Panch constituencies with 34262 total voters registered as on date.

 

The meeting was attended by Deputy DEO Srinagar, all EROs, AEROs, BLOs and other concerned.
