GANDERBAL//ZUBAIR TANTRAY// In connection with the celebration of upcoming 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir flagged off the Shanti Yatra with symbolic torch (Mashaal) from Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Ganderbal which culminated at Girls High School Pandach. Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Dy CEO, teachers and hundreds of students participated in the Shanti Yatra. Earlier, the District Administration has organized colourful program in the auditorium of Govt. Boys Hr. Secondary School Ganderbal during which theme based cultural programs were presented by the school children.The Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion highlighted the purpose of organizing Shanti Yatra in commemoration of upcoming birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and said that the Shanti Yatra will be imperative in familiarizing the students as well as masses about the teachings of the Mahatma Gandhi which are based on truth, non-violence, sacrifice, mutual respect and cooperation.Various teachers and students also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the philosophy of Father of Nation which remind humankind of the true values of peaceful co-existence in a plural world and of the need to work unitedly for the equality and freedom of every individual.
