DMO Jammu seizes 6 vehicles involved in illegal mining

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 01: A team of Geology and Mining Department assisted by Police on Thursday morning raided several locations to tighten noose around perpetrators of illegal mining.

 “On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa, District Mineral Officer, Dr. Gulshan Kumar along with staff members of and Chowki Officer Pouni Chak raided different locations  at Akalpur, Golgujral, Pouni Chak areas early in the morning at around 4.30 am today and seized 06 number of  Vehicles indulged in illegal transportation of minor minerals” the Department said.

Giving details about the raids, the DMO informed that the vehicles  bearing chassis numbers   MBNALALTBLRB00734; MBNBG55AEMCG20108;  WZCE61942954664; MBNBG55AEMCH23614 transporting sand illegally. The vehicles were seized and custody was given to I/C Police Chowki Pouni Chak, he added.

In another raid, the DMO along with a team of Geology and Mining visited Channi Himmat and seized one vehicle bearing registration no JK21G 1072 which was transporting sand without any valid challan/form A.

Similarly, in Chatha area one more vehicle with Chassis no NHBH01655, found  transporting Boulders from nearby khad, without any valid form ‘A’ was seized and handed over to Police Station Chatta.

As decided in the meeting of ‘Multi Departmental District Level Task Force Cell’ headed by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, the vehicles seized today shall not be released before 15 days of seizures.  And on second time violation, the vehicle shall be recommended to the concerned department for the cancellation of registration.
