KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 01: Month long campaign against drug abuse under Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative commenced in district Kulgam today with awareness programmes, rallies and other activities marked the  day ist of the campaign.

On the occasion, an awareness programme and a mega rally was organised by the District Administration at a mini-secretariat in which hundreds of students from various educational institutions of the district participated.

          Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat along with ADC Showkat Ahmad Rather and other officers also participated in the rally.

During the rally, students were seen holding placards and banners in their hands reading the message, “Say no to drugs”.

          Addressing the occasion, the DC said that during this month-long campaign against drug menace awareness programmes will be held across all Panchayats. He added that there is need to work collectively on all fronts  for eradication of drug menace and every stakeholder has to play a proactive role in the war against drugs.

          Earlier, a pledge taking ceremony was held in the lawns of the mini secretariat and pledge was administered by the DC to the participants who pledged to stay away from drugs and live a happy life.

Participants also pledged to cooperate in stopping the drug abuse and create awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse by encouraging every person, especially the youth so that the youth of India can live drug free and they can become creative and important members of the society.

Later, the DC flagged-off Nasha Mukt IEC vehicles for creating massive awareness among people.

Awareness programmes, rallies and pledge taking ceremonies were also held in colleges and other institutions in the district.
