RAJOURI, AUGUST 25: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, today chaired a meeting to review the measures taken to combat the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; VAS Dr. Yasir Sheikh; VAS Majid Akram and other concerned.
A threadbare discussion was held with regard to the measures being taken in the district to control the spread of the viral Disease among dairy animals. He inquired about the steps taken for identification of the infected animals, death rate, progress in vaccination and medication and availability of the medicines in the district.
The Officers of the Animal Husbandry department informed the chair that Rapid response teams and the other Officials are visiting door to door to impart awareness among the cattle rearing population in the district. He also informed that samples are being taken during the visits.
“Medicines are being provided to the farmers which are available in adequate quantities. Moreover stocks of more medicines are expected from the Directorate in the coming days” the meeting was told.
Regarding the identification of the animal infected with the LSD, the officer informed the chair that a survey has been conducted and infected animals have been identified.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the department to disseminate information about the District cells and sub-divisional cells constituted to provide assistance to the public in connection with the LSD.
He further stressed on ring vaccination of all uninfected cattle followed by the mass vaccination.
