Rakhi making competition held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 11: NSS units, Department of Zoology and Department of music of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur today organized Rakhi Making Competition as a part of a weeklong series of activities to promote the Campaign of “Har Ghar Tiranga”, under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM).

        Dr. Monika Sharma, Principal of the college was the chief guest. She informed the participants and staff members that “with Raksha Bandhan knocking on doors, it’s time to appreciate this blissful festival, celebrated only in our country”. She further added that “our college is celebrating “Har Ghar Tiranga” week with fervor under AKAM and Raksha Bandhan is the best occasion to thank our protectors, our soldiers, our freedom fighters and our farmers and be they the citizens of this country who directly or indirectly are contributing to our free survival.” She further said that this competition is just a mark of our gratitude towards our country.

The Competition was adjudged by Prof. Ashni Devi, Department of Botany, Prof. Tania Mahajan Department of Zoology and Prof. Yash Kumar, Department of Music.

The First position was bagged by Neena Devi of semester 6th,  second position went to Manmeet  Kour of Semester 4th  and third position was bagged by Bhumika Khokher of semester 4th.

The proceedings of the program were conducted by Prof. Sumita Rao and Prof.Sanjay Kumar,NSS PO’s.

   Among others, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Department of Botany and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Department of Music witnessed the event.
