Digital awareness camp concludes at GDC Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, JULY 27: The Digital Awareness Camp and information kiosk hosted by Government Degree College Udhampur at the 3 Day Digi Mela organized by the District Administration Udhampur, concluded today. The aim of the event was to make the public aware about different online services available to students at the institution.

Students from PG Department of English, PG Department of Hindi and UG Departments visited the Digi Mela and gathered information about the various online services provided by the government institutions. Students of the college also interacted with representatives of the government bodies and gathered information about new digital initiatives. Complete information about Online Admission process, Digital Library, Course Material Availability and various scholarships was provided to the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, said that students of today must arm themselves with technology in order to succeed.  He appraised the students about emerging trends in educational technology in the Higher Education Department, and said that the need of the age has become to shift focus from chalk and talk towards a blended mode of teaching and learning. He emphasized the importance of such events and said that students should update their capabilities to compete at a global level.

The student tour of the Digi Mela was conducted by Dr. Pankaj Sharma, who also oriented the students about the aims and scope of the event. He also provided information about the various digital services provided by the college at the Institution Kiosk in the Digi Mela.

The Awareness Camp and Kiosk was operated by IT Committee of the college. Prof. Shaji Khan, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Soujanya Sadotra (BSc Semester 6), Dhruv (BCA Semester 6) and Sachin Saraswat (Semester 6) were present at the Kiosk.
