On 15/07/2022, Police Station Khansahib received information that a motorcycle bearing registration No. PB09M-2124 driven by Mohammad Ismail Lone son of Irshad Ahmed Lone alongwith 02 pillion riders namely Mohammad Yousuf Lone son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone son of Ghulam Qadir Lone, all residents of Sitharan Khag were hit by an unknown vehicle near Jamia Masjid Arizal and the driver alongwith the vehicle has fled away from the spot.

Meanwhile, the injured persons were shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for further treatment. However, 02 injured Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Ismail succumbed to their injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 119/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Khansahib and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, the investigation team put forth all the efforts to identify and arrest the driver involved in the commission of the crime and summoned various suspects for questioning. After strenuous efforts, the Police team recovered the suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK04A-0678 from the agriculture field in village Arizal. It is pertinent to mention that, earlier at the time of incident, President Sumo Stand Arizal namely Fayaz Ahmad War and brother of vehicle owner namely Mehraj Ahmad Khan produced one Irshad Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan resident of Checkmarg Hardpanzoo before PS Khan Sahib by claiming him to be the driver of the vehicle. However, during questioning, it came to fore that one Shakeel Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan resident of Checkmarg Hardpanzoo (who doesn’t possess a driving licence) was driving the vehicle at the time of incident.

The actual driver happens to be the brother of the impersonating driver produced by President Sumo Stand and brother of owner of the involved vehicle. The trio had hatched a conspiracy to save the actual driver from legal action owing to his non possession of driving licence.

The driver of the vehicle, two cheaters and impersonating driver were booked and arrested in the instant hit and run case under sections 304-A, 229, 337, 205, 417, 177-IPC and 3/181, 190(2), 146, 196 MV Act.

Our efforts should assure community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.
