To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to showcase rich Indian culture under Theatre Rejuvenation Scheme, the North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and the Indian Army organised two days Cultural Festival at Langate. Apart from the cultural performance from renowned artists, the day witnessed several Folk art forms from all over the country. During the event various plays and musical events such as Bhaand Pather and Rouff Dance of the Kashmir region in which stories commemorating the lives of rishis (Islamic Sager or Rishis) or more contemporary real or fictional figures were enacted. The other events conducted were Sufi and Patriotic songs by Sufi Bobby Siddhu, Gatka (Punjabi Martial Art), Ghosiari (Uttrakhand Folk Dance) and Bhapang Vadani (Rajasthani Folk Music)
The renowned artists of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttrakhand and Rajasthan sang beautiful songs having mystic importance as well as depicting India’s unity in diversity. The two-day cultural festival had an auspicious beginning with the performance by local artists and choreographed folk performance. The cultural festival aims to celebrate the spirit of Tradition, Culture, Heritage and Diversity of our incredible country. Apart from the broader objective, this cultural festival aims to Preserve, Promote & Popularize the heritage of the Indian Spirit & reconnect the new generation with our culture.
The Cultural Festival was attended by Senior Officers from the Indian Army, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Civil Administration besides a number of tourists and locals.
