Joint Secretary MOHFW Lav Agarwal chairs high-level meeting in Srinagar, reviews progress of national health schemes

Srinagar, July 08: Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Lav Agarwal today chaired a high-level meeting of officers at Old Secretariat Srinagar to review the progress of national health schemes.

Earlier, the Joint Secretary was warmly received at Srinagar Airport by Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather in presence of other senior officers and officials of the health department.

Later, he chaired a high-level review meeting at NHM Conference Hall Old Secretariat Complex which was attend attended by Mission Director NHM, Yaseen Chowdhary who joined through video conferencing, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather besides other officers and officials of the health department.

While chairing the high-level meeting, Agarwal in his remarks said Jammu and Kashmir is doing a wonderful job as the health indicators are concerned and is providing health care services to the people at all levels.

He stressed that focus should be given on Central Sponsored Schemes being run by the Government of India and provide better health care to the people.

The Joint Secretary said the government can strive for TB-free Kashmir in the next two years, only if the government-sponsored schemes are implemented at the grass root level in a proper manner.

During the meeting, he stressed on the need for increased focus on National Dialysis Program and also on the National NCD programs.

Agarwal expressed his happiness over the health care services being provided to the people of UT Jammu and Kashmir. He further said the centre is committed and willing to provide funds and logistic support at every level for quality patient care services.

He highly appreciated and acknowledged the selfless and fearless efforts of medical staff, health care workers especially, the front line workers.

Agarwal also encouraged the officers to continue their professional and productive work to further improve patient care in the region.

He also stressed that Ayushman Bharat scheme should be fully implemented and use of information technology should be encouraged to aware people about it.

MD NHM Yaseen Chowdhary gave a detailed presentation of the national schemes being implemented by the National Health Mission in Jammu and Kashmir and gave a detailed functioning of these schemes in the hospitals.

During the course of the meeting, DHSK, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather gave a detailed overview regarding health care arrangements that have been made by the department for the ongoing Amarnath Ji Yatra.

Dr MA Rather also gave a detailed overview of the activities being carried out by the health department in hospitals across Kashmir valley.

SSO Dr Talat briefed the Joint Secretary about the Covid-19 management and its mitigation by the health care workers of the health department. In the end Chief Medical Officer Srinagar (CMO) Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir presented vote of thanks.
