DDC reviews skill development activities in Rajouri

RAJOURI, JULY 02: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the skill development activities in the district.

Officers who attended the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; Principal ITI Rajouri, Abdul Rashid; DO NRLM, Javed Ul Sofi and other concerned officers.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of programs under SANKALP, skill hub initiative, accreditation of COVID warriors, up-skilling of SHG members under NRLM, training of tribal youth groups, formulation of Panchayat skill development plan, formation of panchayat skill development plan etc was held threadbare in the meeting.

The DC asked for effective  implementation of programs under SANKALP. It was informed that activities plan in this regard has been formulated and submitted to the concerned authorities and is presently under scrutiny.

The meeting was apprised that one Skill Development Hub  in functional in the district i.e KV BSF Campus Rajouri and nine potential hubs have been proposed. Regarding the up-skilling of the SHGs members, it was apprised that as many as 130 members have been imparted training in different trades including sewing tech, data entry, fashion designing etc in the first phase and a total of 300 SHG members are to be trained under the initiative.

Regarding the panchayat skill development plan, the DDC asked the concerned officer to get the plan formulated at the earliest.

While addressing the officers in the meeting, the DDC said that skill development of youth was a priority of the Government and many initiatives are being taken in this regard.

Highlighting the measures being taken by the District Administration to boost skill among the youth, he asked the concerned officers to take effective measures and train maximum unemployed youth of the district under different skill development programs.

Laying special focus on upskilling of the youth, the DDC asked the concerned officers to explore new modalities to hone the ability of the talented youth of the district by taking skill development to grassroots level.

He further asked the concerned officers to put all their efforts to upgrade the skill sets of the youth according to the needs of the market and make them ready for future jobs.

The DDC also directed the concerned officers to work with utmost dedication to ensure employment of youth by way of imparting requisite proficiency.
