India made a stunning comeback as they levelled the five-match T20I series against South Africa. Avesh Khan’s four-wicket haul helps India bowl out South Africa for 87/9 in 16.5 overs. But the star of the match was Dinesh Karthik who shone with the bat again for the team and smashed 55 runs.

Put in to bat, the Indian team got off to a poor start losing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer who went back in the hut cheaply.

In form, Ishan Kishan looked good as India were at 40 runs, but could not stand longer as Anrich Nortje dismissed him. Captain Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya then took the team’s total beyond the 50-run mark. But the amazing partnership between the duo was broken as Keshav Maharaj dismissed Pant.

Dinesh Karthik again stood as the last hope for team India as they were already four men down when he came to bat. Karthik showed his true class as he smashed South Africa bowlers all around the ground.

Half of the credit for the series-leveling 82-run victory against South Africa goes to the big-hitting brilliance of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya, whose 65 runs in 5.3 overs powered India to 169 runs.

No hero emerged for South Africa. Quinton de Kock struggled on before he ran out, and Temba Bavuma was retired hurt due to sustained a shoulder injury. Later Harshal Patel removed David Miller; Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Heinrich Klaasen, with a straighter ball; Avesh Khan enjoyed the night of his career in international cricket with a four-wicket haul. Proteas were bundled out for 87, just half as India had put on (169/7).

Avesh Khan produced a fiery spell, taking 4/18 off his four overs, which included 15 dot balls, to send South Africa collapsing to 87 all out in just 16.5 overs. This was SA’s lowest score in T20Is.
