KUPWARA, June 10 : Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today morning flagged off a bicyle rally at DC Office Complex to mark celebration of ‘World Bicycle Day’.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kupwara and other concerned were present at the occasion.
The bicycle race covered a distance of 5 kilometer, went through Garrison Camp Zangli and culminated at District Police Lines, Kupwara. The race was held under the banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mahaoutsav.
The function organized by District Youth Services and Sports Department in which a large number of students from various schools participated enthusiastically.
Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Jahangir said that revival of cycling is the need of hour as it is the best tool for physical fitness of youth. He said the rally envisages to popularise the usage of cycle to solve the dual issues of pollution and unhealthy life style, besides enhancing and promoting the sprit of nationalism and
brotherhood qualities among youth.
Khalid Jahangir said that District Administration is making concerted efforts for chanalizing the hidden talent of the youth, adding that the administration has already issued a sports calendar and students of different age groups are participating in sports activities across the district.
Assuring all possible support from the District Administration, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Youth Services and Sports Department has to play greater role in building the physical and mental fitness of youth, which is the future of nation.
