Patwari arrested for accepting bribe, misbehaving with ACB team during a raid in uptown Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 10, : Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Patwari red-handed inside his house while accepting a bribe in Baghat area of Srinagar.

   During the raid, the Patwari and his family members misbehaved with the ACB team, prompting ACB to get an FIR lodged against him at the concerned police station.

   An official from ACB told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a complainant had approached ACB, informing that Patwari Brein Nisahat Asif Farooq Wani was demanding a bribe from him to get his work executed.

   “First, we arrested Chowkidar Nazir Ahmed Dar who was part of the criminal conspiracy and then arrested Patwari red handed while accepting the bribe. Our team was alert and as soon as it was intimated that Patwari is ready to accept the bribe, the raid was conducted and the delinquent officer nabbed,” he said adding that during the process the Patwari and family members attacked and misbehaved with the ACB team.

   ACB has registered an FIR vide number 8/2022, 7PC Act against the Patwari while on the complaint of ACB, another FIR under section 553 was registered against the delinquent officer at police station Sadar.

   Station House Officer, Police Station Sadar, Mudasir Nazar confirmed the arrest of Patwari under relevant sections of law..
