Bandipora, Oct 23 (JKNS): 27 Assam Rifles of the Indian Army organised a vibrant Gujjar-Bakarwal Community Outreach Programme in Bandipora, bringing together healthcare, cultural activities and community engagement under one roof.
The programme featured a medical camp providing healthcare assistance and medical support to local residents, alongside a veterinary camp for the treatment and care of livestock. Students were also encouraged through the distribution of stationery items.
One of the major highlights of the event was the opportunity given to talented singers and other performers from the Gujjar-Bakarwal community to showcase their talent. The initiative provided a platform for local artists to express themselves and celebrate their rich cultural heritage.
Unlike conventional medical outreach camps, this initiative went beyond providing medicines and healthcare facilities. While 27 Assam Rifles has organised several such welfare initiatives in the past, this programme was a special effort to make community outreach more inclusive and meaningful by incorporating cultural and educational activities as well.
The Commanding Officer of 27 Assam Rifles, along with other senior officers, remained present during the programme. Around 800 to 1,000 people participated in various activities and benefited from the different facilities provided at the camp.
Members of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community expressed their happiness and gratitude towards the Indian Army, particularly 27 Assam Rifles, for providing them with such an opportunity and making them feel valued and supported.
The initiative once again highlighted the Indian Army’s continued commitment towards community welfare, strengthening people-to-people connections and building lasting bonds with the local population. (JKNS)
