Shopian, Oct 5 (JKNS): Continuing it sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Shopian Police seized four Tippers and five tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material from different areas of the district falling under the jurisdictions of Police Station Shopian, Keller and Police Post Keegam and Berthipora.
The vehicles were found involved in the extraction and transportation of mining material, without valid authorization and in violation of the prescribed norms.
Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and multiple FIRs under relevant provisions of law stand registered at the concerned police stations. Further investigation in the matter has been initiated.
Shopian Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the districts natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities.
The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. (JKNS)
