Bandipora, Oct 4 (JKNS): Border Security Force (BSF) today organised Wullar Marathon 3.0 in Bandipora, witnessing enthusiastic participation from runners of different age groups and various parts of the country.
The marathon featured 5-km, 10-km, 25-km and 50-km races, promoting fitness, endurance and sportsmanship while creating awareness about protecting and keeping Wular Lake clean.
A felicitation ceremony was later held at Wullar Vintage Park, where participants, winners and position holders were felicitated. The ceremony was presided over by BSF IG Kashmir Ashok Yadav, while DIG BSF Headquarters Bandipora Sandeep Rawat and other senior officers were present.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, SSP Bandipora, Army officers and other civil and security officials also attended the event.
Speaking to the media, IG Ashok Yadav said the marathon aimed to promote fitness among youth and elderly people across Jammu and Kashmir and the country, while encouraging collective responsibility towards keeping Wular Lake clean and protected.
He appreciated the enthusiasm of participants and highlighted the importance of fitness and environmental conservation. (JKNS)
