Srinagar, Oct 04 (JKNS): Residents of Banpora area of Batamaloo have urged MLA Tariq Hameed Karra and the concerned authorities to intervene in what they described as a prolonged water shortage affecting the area for the past two years.

Speaking to JKNS, a group of residents from Lane No. 1, Dar Gali, Banpora, Batmaloo said they have been facing a severe shortage of drinking water, claiming that regular water supply has remained unavailable for nearly two years.

The residents said the situation has become particularly difficult for families during social functions, including weddings, with one such event being held in the area recently amid the water shortage. “Despite approaching the concerned authorities on several occasions, the issue has remained unresolved,” they said.

The residents appealed to MLA Tariq Hameed Karra to take up the matter with the concerned department and ensure the restoration of regular water supply in the area.

They also urged the Jal Shakti Department and other concerned officials to visit Banpora, assess the situation on the ground and take immediate measures to address the water crisis.

The residents said uninterrupted access to drinking water is a basic necessity and urged the authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest. (JKNS)
