Srinagar, Sept 29 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the government intends to hold Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir, while responding to a question raised by BJP MLA R.S. Pathania in the Legislative Assembly.
Speaking in the Assembly, as per news agency JKNS, Omar said the government’s intention was clear on holding Panchayat elections.
“All I can say is that our intention is to hold a Panchayat election,” he said.
When asked when the elections would be held, the Chief Minister said the polls would take place “at the right time.”
“When will the election take place? My answer is that the election will take place at the right time,” Omar said.
Asked when the “right time” would come, he responded, “When it will come, it will come.”
Omar, while responding to Pathania, also referred to the BJP’s position on restoration of statehood, saying, “And your intention is to return the statehood.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks came as BJP MLA R.S. Pathania questioned the government over its intention and timeline for holding Panchayat elections. (JKNS)
