Srinagar, Sep 19 (JKNS): Pampore MLA Hasnain Masoodi is set to raise the issue of a five-day working week for schools in the upcoming Assembly session.

Speaking to news agency JKNS, Masoodi said he had proposed a resolution seeking five working days for schools to ease the academic load on students, but the proposal was not included in the selected list.

“I had proposed a resolution that schools must have only five working days to ease the load on students; however, that is not in the selected list. I will still raise it in the Assembly,” Masoodi said.

He said he had also raised the issue with Education Minister Sakeena Itoo during the DIET Pampore programme.

Earlier, while addressing students during the programme, Minister Sakeena Itoo said MLA Masoodi had informed her about the matter and that the government would examine it.

She had further said that the proposal would be sent to the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) and Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) for examination.

It is pertinent to mention that the J&K Legislative Assembly session is scheduled to begin in Srinagar on Monday, September 21. (JKNS)
