Srinagar, Sept 14 (JKNS): The strike by National Health Mission (NHM) employees continued for the sixth consecutive day on Monday at Community Health Centre (CHC) Hajin in Bandipora district, with doctors and paramedical staff participating in the protest in support of their long-pending demands.
Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Chief Spokesperson Mir Bashir Ahmad as per news agency JKNS, visited the protesting employees and extended his support to the ongoing strike. He assured the NHM employees that the EJAC leadership stands firmly with them and will continue to support their genuine demands.
Speaking to the media, Mir Bashir Ahmad also criticised BJP leaders for what he described as expressing sympathy with the protesting employees at the local level but failing to take up their issues with their senior leadership or the concerned authorities in a meaningful manner.
Meanwhile, NHM Employees Block Hajin President Dr Shehnaz strongly reacted to the recent statement of Health Minister Sakina Itoo, saying that the protesting employees would not be intimidated and would continue their struggle until their genuine and legitimate demands are addressed.
Dr Shehnaz said the NHM employees have been raising their concerns for a long time and appealed to the government to initiate meaningful dialogue and take concrete steps towards resolving their issues.
The protesting employees reiterated their key demands, including a secure job policy, regularisation, pay revision and equitable remuneration, along with social security and retirement benefits. (JKNS)
