Jammu, Sept 7 (JKNS): An accused in a narcotics case allegedly escaped from the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at its headquarters in Jammu, officials said on Monday.
Officials told news agency JKNS, The accused has been identified as Aqib Bashir, a resident of Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to officials, Bashir was in NCB custody in connection with an NDPS case when he allegedly managed to escape from the NCB office late Sunday night.
Following the incident, senior officers were informed and multiple teams were constituted to trace and re-arrest the accused. Searches are being conducted at various locations, officials said.
Police have also been alerted and nakas have been established at different locations in and around Jammu to track the escapee.
An inquiry is likely to be initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the escape and fix responsibility for the alleged security lapse.
