Anantnag, Sept 5 (JKNS): Continuing its drive against illegal forest activities and the smuggling of forest produce, Police in Anantnag apprehended four persons allegedly involved in forest smuggling in the district.
During the intervening night of September 04/05, 2026, a police party of Police Station Larnoo apprehended four forest smugglers while they were allegedly engaged in the illegal cutting and loading of forest timber onto a tractor bearing registration number JK03M-5421 in the Matihindoo area.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Khari, Irshad Ahmad Khari, Shabir Ahmad Pathan and Niyaz Ahmad Khari, all residents of Matihindoo.
The tractor used in the commission of the offence has been seized as per due procedure. A case under the relevant provisions of law has been registered, and investigation has been initiated.
Police reiterates its commitment to protecting forest resources and taking strict action against forest smuggling. (JKNS)
