Three Terror Associates Arrested; Grenade, AK-47 Magazines, HM Posters Recovered in Shopian

Shopian, Aug 25 (JKNS): Security forces on Tueaday arrested three terror associates and have recovered arms, ammunition and posted during a search operation in the Narwani area of Shopian district, officials said.

A senior J&K police officer told news agency JKNS that, during the joint anti terror operation three OGWs were arrested and a grenade, two AK-47 magazines, four mobile phones and posters linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit were recovered from their possession.

The operation was conducted jointly by 34 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG Imam Sahib in the Narwani area.

The recovered items were found in an orchard belonging to a person, a resident of Narwani, officer said.

The recoveries included one grenade, four mobile phones, two AK-47 rifle magazines and four posters associated with the HM organisation, he said.

During the operation, three persons were also apprehended.

They have been identified as Ashiq Hussain Kumar, son of late Abdul Rashid Kumar, resident of Laram Ganjipora, Kulgam; Arif Kumar, son of Ghulam Rasool Kumar, resident of Laram Ganjipora, Kulgam; and Harris Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad, resident of Anchidoora Anantnag, officer said.

The recovered items and the apprehended persons have been taken into custody for further investigation.

Authorities are investigating the possible source and intended use of the recovered items and examining the alleged links of the apprehended persons with the banned terror outfit. (JKNS)
