PDP’s Malik Expresses Resentment over Power Tariff Hike

Baramulla, Aug (22): Peoples democratic party (PDP) district coordinator Baramulla constituency in charge Rafiabad Altaf Malk has expressed strong resentment and dismay over the continuous increase in power tariffs across kashmir.

In a statement Malik said the power tariff hikes have come despite the NC government’s promise of providing 200 units of free electricity to the consumers He alleged that the promise remain unfulfilled while continue to face rising power charges.

The PDP leader criticized the present government saying the tariff comes at a time when people across kashmir are already facing severe financial challenges.

Malik said businesses have suffered losses while fruit growers farmers tourism related stakeholders and other sections of the society continue to struggle with economic difficulties.

The additional burden of increased power bills would further affect the poor and marginalised consumers altaf added and urged government to consider the tariff hike and take concrete measures to provide some relief to people particularly economically weaker sections. (JKNS)
