Thananandi, Aug 5 (JKNS); The increasing number of stray dogs in Thanna mandi subdivision and its surrounding areas has become a serious concern for local residents.
Over the past few days, several incidents of stray dog attacks have been reported, leaving schoolchildren, elderly citizens, women, and pedestrians injured.
These incidents have created an atmosphere of fear, with many parents now hesitant to send their children to school.
According to local residents, including Syed Manzar Ali Shah, Qazi Qamar Javed, and Saad Khan, stray dogs often hide beneath vehicles in the main market and other busy areas before suddenly attacking passersby.
They warned that the situation poses a constant risk of a major accident and has significantly disrupted daily life, making people fearful of moving freely through the marketplace.
Speaking to the media, the residents urged the concerned authorities to take immediate and effective measures to control the stray dog population. They said that if prompt action is not taken, the number of attacks could increase, putting more innocent lives at risk and resulting in further injuries.
The local community has appealed to the district administration, the Municipal Committee, and the concerned departments to launch a comprehensive drive to capture and relocate stray dogs while implementing effective public safety measures.
Residents stressed that protecting children, women, senior citizens, and the general public should be a top priority, and called for urgent action to restore a sense of safety and normalcy in the area. (JKNS)
