Prof. Syeda Afshana Bhat Given Additional Charge Of EMMRC Director At Kashmir University

Srinagar, Aug 4 (JKNS): Kashmir University has assigned Prof. Syeda Afshana Bhat the additional charge of In-Charge Director of the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), with effect from August 1, 2026, until further orders.

An official order issued by the University’s Administration (Teaching Section) said Prof. Bhat will discharge the responsibilities of the EMMRC Director in addition to her existing role as Professor at the Media Education Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir.

Prof. Bhat is a distinguished academic, researcher, and media educator with expertise in International Communication, Convergent Journalism, Narrative Journalism, Gender Studies, Health Communication, and Print Media. Over the years, she has strengthened her academic and professional profile through advanced training, fellowships, and workshops at internationally renowned institutions, including Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Johannesburg, IAL Germany, and Nazareth College, USA.

A prolific writer, columnist, and poet, she has authored several books and research publications focusing on media, culture, gender, health communication, and society. At the postgraduate and doctoral levels, she has played a key role in teaching, research, and mentoring, successfully guiding numerous PhD scholars to completion. Her work continues to promote multimedia journalism, communication, storytelling, and the evolving role of media in shaping public understanding.

The appointment has been communicated to all concerned university departments and offices for information and necessary action. (JKNS)
