Mir Farhat Meets LG Sinha, Seeks Review of Notification Affecting Brick Kiln Sector

Srinagar, July 9 (JKNS): Mir Farhat Mustafa, Advocate and Legal Advisor to the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, on Thursay called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and urged a balanced policy approach on the recently issued Notification No. 119, raising concerns over its impact on the brick kiln sector while also highlighting issues related to illegal mining.

According to a statement issued to news agency JKNS, Mir Farhat Mustafa, who is also General Secretary of the Women’s Lawyer Association and Executive Member of the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, apprised the Lieutenant Governor of the challenges being faced by brick kiln owners, workers and other stakeholders following the notification.

During the meeting, the concerns arising from the recent Notification No. 119, including its impact on brick kiln owners, workers, and related stakeholders, were brought to the attention of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor. The issue of illegal mining and its implications for the lawful functioning of the brick kiln industry was also discussed.

Representing the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, Mir Farhat Mustafa urged that genuine and law-abiding brick kiln owners should be provided a fair opportunity to continue their operations in accordance with law, while ensuring that environmental norms and legal requirements are effectively implemented. The need for a balanced and practical approach that protects livelihoods while safeguarding the environment was emphasized.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised, and it is hoped that the concerns of the brick kiln sector will receive due consideration in the larger public interest. (JKNS)
