Srinagar, July 10 (JKNS): A government school headmaster was killed after being hit by a Scorpio vehicle near the JK Bank branch at Unisoo in Handwara during the intervening night, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Lone (54), son of Mohammad Abdullah, a resident of Unisoo Wahipora.
He was serving as a Headmaster in the School Education Department.
They said the accident occurred when the vehicle, travelling from Sopore towards Handwara, struck the pedestrian near Unisoo.
The injured was immediately shifted to Sopore Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have registered FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Handwara, and further investigation into the incident has been taken up. (JKNS)
