Budgam, July 6 (JKNS): Continuing its humanitarian and welfare initiatives, the Caring People’s Welfare Foundation (CPWF), Budgam, provided financial assistance for the marriages of six underprivileged girls during a function held at Hanjiguroh, Beerwah.

The event was attended by local dignitaries, social activists, volunteers, and a large gathering of residents, who appreciated the Foundation’s continued efforts to support poor and needy families. Participants described the initiative as a commendable step towards easing the financial burden on economically weaker sections of society.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Caring People’s Welfare Foundation, Muzamil Ahmad, said that the Foundation remains committed to serving humanity and extending support to the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society. He stated that assisting poor girls in their marriages is not only a social responsibility but also a noble humanitarian duty.

He said that the Foundation is actively implementing welfare programmes across Jammu and Kashmir in the fields of education, healthcare, financial assistance, marriage support, and social development. He added that these initiatives will be further expanded in the coming months to ensure that assistance reaches a greater number of deserving beneficiaries.

Muzamil Ahmad appealed to philanthropists, social workers, and well-off members of society to come forward and support charitable initiatives so that more needy families can benefit from such welfare programmes.

During his address, he also strongly advocated for the complete eradication of the dowry system in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a major financial burden on poor families that often delays or prevents the marriages of many deserving girls.

He urged religious scholars, community leaders, and the concerned authorities to work collectively to eliminate this social evil. “Marriage should be based on simplicity, dignity, mutual respect, and compassion—not on financial demands or outdated customs like dowry. Society must unite to end this harmful practice and ensure that no family suffers because of it,” he said.

Local residents also praised the Foundation’s humanitarian services, stating that the financial assistance would significantly reduce the burden on the beneficiary families. They expressed hope that similar welfare programmes would continue in the future.

The programme concluded with special prayers for the happiness, prosperity, and successful married lives of the beneficiary girls. The Caring People’s Welfare Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its humanitarian and welfare activities across Budgam and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
