Srinagar, July 4 (JKNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Saturday said that more than 26,000 pilgrims have performed darshan at the Holy Amarnath Cave Shrine during the first two days of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, while urging devotees to undertake the pilgrimage only after obtaining valid registration.
Addressing a press conference, as per news agency JKNS, Garg said, the Yatra commenced on July 3 and all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure its smooth conduct.
He said the pilgrimage is being regulated in accordance with directions of the Supreme Court, under which a fixed ceiling has been prescribed for the number of pilgrims allowed on the Yatra route.
Garg said the registration process includes online registration, e-KYC verification and issuance of RFID cards through designated centres.
He noted that over the past few days, a large number of pilgrims have been arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without valid registration, resulting in inconvenience and longer waiting periods.
“The Tatkal quota is very limited. Every devotee must carry valid registration. Those arriving without registration will have to wait, as priority is being given to pilgrims who have already completed the registration process,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner further clarified that pilgrims will be permitted to undertake the Yatra only on the date allotted to them during registration.
He added that boarding and lodging facilities have been established at various locations and pilgrims are requested to wait for their scheduled turn to ensure safe and orderly conduct of the pilgrimage. (JKNS)
