Pulwama, June 11 (JKNS): Continuing its intensified crackdown on narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Pulwama Police on Thursday apprehended two alleged drug peddlers and recovered heroin and charas-like substances from their possession during a naka checking operation in Lajoora area of the district.
As per news agency JKNS, Police achieved another success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering heroin and charas-like contraband substances during naka checking at Lajoora.
A police party deployed at a naka established near Hanfia Model School, Lajoora intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number PB08CC-8542 for checking. During the search, heroin weighing approximately 8 grams and a charas-like substance weighing approximately 3.5 grams were recovered from the possession of the two occupants.
The accused were identified as Prince Sharma, son of Bishaki Ram, resident of Akhnoor, Jammu, and Jagjeet Singh, son of Mashoor Singh, resident of Chattergam, Tral, Awantipora.
Both accused were arrested on the spot and the motorcycle used in the commission of the offence was also seized.
Accordingly, FIR No. 112/2026 under Sections 8/20, 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify further links in the narcotics network.
Pulwama Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and stated that stringent action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities.
The police also appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug abuse and trafficking so that the collective mission of a drug-free society can be achieved. (JKNS)
