A senior police officer told JKNS that the large-scale rescue operation is being carried out jointly by SDRF, Gulmarg Police, SOG, Snow Leopards and personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, including 14 Mountain Rescue Teams.

The officer said teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) are also making an exemplary contribution to the ongoing operation.

Officials said the rescue operation was launched immediately after the Gondola services developed a technical fault, leaving several tourists stranded inside cable car cabins amid adverse weather conditions.

Police and rescue teams are continuing evacuation efforts while technical experts assess the nature of the malfunction. Authorities said the situation remains under close monitoring and all stranded tourists are being evacuated safely. (JKNS)
