Sopore Police Seal Two More Illegal Medical Shops in Anti-Drug Crackdown

Srinagar, May 8 (JKNS): Continuing its intensified drive against illegal pharmaceutical practices under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police in coordination with Drug Control authorities sealed two more chemist shops in Nowpora Kalan area of Sopore for violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

As per news agency JKNS, Police in Sopore, in coordination with the Drug Control authorities, have taken further stringent action against illegal pharmaceutical practices in Police District Sopore.

During a joint inspection at Nowpora Kalan Sopore, two chemist shops were found in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. The shops were being run by Shafiq ul Hassan, son of Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Rafi Ganie son of Sunaullah Ganie, both residents of Nowpora Kalan Sopore. Acting promptly, the Drug Inspector sealed both premises on the spot after following due legal procedure and legal action has been initiated against the proprietors under relevant provisions of law.

With this, the total number of such enforcement actions has risen to Ten (10), reflecting sustained and targeted action against unlicensed and non-compliant chemist shops across the district.

Police reiterated that no unlicensed or non-compliant medical store will be allowed to operate, and any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines or psychotropic substances will invite strict and immediate legal action. The public is advised to purchase medicines only from authorised and licensed chemists.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to curb misuse of drugs and ensure a safer, healthier and drug-free society. (JKNS)
