The encounter had initially started on Tuesday evening after a brief exchange of fire took place during a cordon and search operation launched jointly by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police following specific intelligence inputs.

A senior police officer had earlier told JKNS that forces came under fire during the operation, which was effectively retaliated and cordon was further tightened.

The area remains under a tight cordon, with additional reinforcements deployed and all entry and exit points sealed. Senior officials from police and Army are continuously monitoring the situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, Army’s Chinar Corps, on Wednesday morning, in a post on X wrote, as per JKNS, “OP ARAHAMA, During the night of 31 Mar 26, the cordon was tactically reorganised amidst the intermittent firing underway. Own troops effectively retaliated with calibrated response resulting in one terrorist eliminated. Operation is in progress.” (JKNS)
