Baramulla, Mar 10 (JKNS): The District Magistrate Baramulla has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 in village Mirgund, Mirchimar and adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora in Sub Division Pattan, following apprehensions of law and order disturbance.

According to an order issued by the District Magistrate and accessed by news agency JKNS, the step was taken after the Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla reported a long-standing dispute between rival factions of the Shia community over the observance of religious functions and jurisdiction of Imam Bargah and Masjid Mirchimar in Mirgund.

The order states that the restrictions will remain in force from 8:00 PM on March 10 to 9:30 PM on March 11, 2026, coinciding with the 21st of Ramzan, to prevent any possible law and order issue and safeguard life and property.

Under the restrictions, assembly of four or more persons, processions, carrying firearms or weapons, and use of loudspeakers without prior permission of the District Magistrate have been prohibited in the notified areas. However, members of armed forces, police, magistrates and other authorised public servants on duty are exempted from the order. (JKNS)
