Mera Yuva Bharat underscores the importance of International Women’s Day 2026

Srinagar, Mar 5 (JKNS): Mera Yuva Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Srinagar today highlighted the importance of the upcoming International Womens Day 2026.

Addressing the media gathering, Pardip Kumar, Joint Director, My Bharat Srinagar highlighted the importance of empowering women through sports and physical activities. He emphasized that sports plays a vital role in building confidence, leadership and overall well-being among women and girls.

This event will be organized by Mera Yuva Bharat Srinagar in collaboration with Asmita, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India, with the objective of promoting women’s participation in sports and encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle among young women across the region.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, a Women’s Athletic Event will be organized featuring around 1000 female participants from different parts of the district. The event will include track races of 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters, providing a platform for young women to showcase their athletic talent and competitive spirit.

The initiative aims to encourage greater participation of women in sports while spreading the message of equality, strength and empowerment. (JKNS)
