Govt orders Reshuffle in J&K Prisons Department

J&K Government Orders Massive Reshuffle in Police Department; Vijay Kumar ADGP L&O Entrusted With Add’l Charge of ADGP Armed & Commandant General HG/CD/SDRF

Srinagar, Mar 02 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department on Monday ordered multiple transfers and postings in the Prisons Department with immediate effect.

As per Government Order No. 145-Home of 2026 dated March 02, 2026, accessed by news agency JKNS, Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, who was serving as Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, has been repatriated to his parent department, J&K Police.

The order further mentions the deputation of three police officers to the J&K Prisons Department. Ch. Iftikhar Ahmed has been appointed as Superintendent Jail, District Jail Poonch; Rayaz Iqbal Tantray as Superintendent Jail, District Jail Anantnag; and Aejaz Ahmad Malik as Superintendent Jail, Special Jail Pulwama.

 

In addition, Ms. Saba Shawl has been transferred and posted as Superintendent Jail, Central Jail Srinagar, while Mushtaq Ahmad Malla has been assigned as Staff Officer to DGP, Prisons, J&K. Sunil Kumar, DySP, has also been posted as Superintendent Jail, District Jail Kishtwar.

 

The transfers and postings have been carried out by the Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, by order of the Lieutenant Governor. (JKNS)
