Doda Police Register FIR, Detains One Person for Disrespecting the National Flag

Doda, Feb 10 (JKNS): Doda Police have taken cognizance of an incident involving the dishonouring of the Indian National Flag, which came to light after a video went viral on social media platforms.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, reads, In the video, a person namely Farooq Ahmed S/o Mohd Ramzan Banday R/o Nagri, Doda, was allegedly seen cleaning the window glass of his house using the Indian National Flag.

The said act prima facie amounts to an offence under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971, which strictly prohibits any act that disrespects the dignity of the National Flag, it reads.

Taking serious note of the matter and on the directions of SSP Doda Case FIR No. 30/2026 has been registered at Police Station Doda, the alleged accused has been detained and further investigation into the matter is underway as per law. Necessary legal action shall be taken against anyone found guilty, strictly in accordance with the law, it reads.

Doda Police reaffirm their firm commitment to uphold the honour, dignity, and respect of the National Flag and appeal to the general public to remain vigilant and report any such incidents promptly. Citizens are also urged to respect national symbols and uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution of India, statement reads. (JKNS)
