Breath of Life”:Two-day District-Level ASHA Training Programme organised by Health Department at Shopian

Shopian, Feb 9 (JKNS): Two-day District-Level Training Programme for ASHA workers on Pneumonia management, themed “Breath of Life”, was held here today at the Meeting Hall, Mini Secretariat, Shopian.

The programme was organised by the Health Department, Shopian on the directions of the Director Health Services, Kashmir.

The training programme was presided over by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Shopian, Dr. Arshid Hussain Tak who emphasised the crucial role of ASHA workers in early identification, timely referral and community-level management of pneumonia, especially among children and vulnerable groups.

 

He highlighted that pneumonia remains a leading cause of preventable mortality and timely intervention can truly become a “breath of life” for patients.

 

CMO appreciated the dedication of ASHA workers and urged them to apply the acquired knowledge in the field for strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the district.

 

Resource persons provided detailed technical sessions on early symptom recognition, danger signs, home-based care, referral protocols and awareness generation at grassroots level. Interactive discussions and practical idemonstrations further enhanced the understanding of participants.

 

Divisional Epidemiologist,Dr. Anjum Afshan Qadri, DNO, NPCCHH, (DHAK), Dr. Maqsood Khan, DHO, Dr. Shafkat Khan and a large number of ASHAs participated in the training programme. (JKNS)
