It said that, Under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP)-2015, a total of 6,000 Transit Accommodation Units are being constructed at 20 different locations across the Valley to meet the residential needs of Kashmiri Migrant Government employees appointed under the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Package.

The government clarified that these accommodations are being developed as planned residential complexes equipped with essential civic amenities and adequate security arrangements, and are not temporary camps. “The objective is to ensure dignified, safe and sustainable residential facilities for Kashmiri Migrant employees,” the reply said.

Meanwhile, the government also confirmed that fresh cases for registration under the Migrant Relief Assistance are currently not being entertained. It said the matter was reviewed in a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on July 12, 2023.

“After due deliberations, it was observed that in view of the overall improvement in the law and order situation and prevailing circumstances in the Kashmir Valley, there is no justification for fresh registration of migrants at this stage,” the government stated.

It further said that any security-related concerns can be addressed locally by the concerned district administrations and security agencies, and accordingly, fresh registration for migrant relief assistance is not being undertaken at present. (JKNS)
